Cultivated as early as the 1700’s and named after the fact they were dried, much like figs to enable winter eating!
This is a compact semi-determinate variety producing an abundance of pear-shaped red cherry tomatoes.
A perfect snacking / salad / preserving / drying / chutney tomato!
WHEN TO PLANT
Temperate: SEP-DEC Transplant or direct sow outside only when soil temperatures reach 16ºC+.
(Can be grown year-round but risk of disease increases when sown in hotter months.)
SOIL PREFERENCES
PH 5.8-7
Well-drained rich soil.
GROWING TIPS
Raise in seedling tray, sow 6mm deep and keep moist.
Remove bottom leaves when planting and plant deeply to promote strong growth.
Plant 50cm apart. Pinch out laterals leaving 1-2 leaders and grow on a support.
