A Chinese variety of lettuce grown primarily for the stem rather than the leaves, which can be eaten while young but tend to be bitter.
The stem is peeled and is similar to water chestnut with a sweet, nutty flavour, which has a smoky aftertaste.
Added to stir-fries, pickled, grilled roasted or eaten raw.
Easy to grow and use.

SOIL PREFERENCES
PH 6 – 7.5
Well-drained soil.
